Market Research Internship

Job description

Illuminas is seeking a highly energetic and intelligent individual who is ready to learn everything there is to learn about market research.  As a paid intern, you will learn how to support the design and execution of large-scale, custom research studies for some of the largest and most successful technology and media brands in the world. 

We are looking for an Austin-based intern.

Specific job responsibilities of a Research intern can include (but are not limited to):

  • Learning how to support custom market research studies, both qualitative and quantitative

Tasks by project phase


  • Proofreading questionnaires
  • Conducting secondary research

Programming // Recruitment

  • Reviewing recruits for qualitative studies – first pass of approval 
  • Testing online surveys to ensure logic is programmed as intended

Data collection // Focus Groups or IDIs

  • Reviewing open-ended responses to ensure quality assurance
  • Monitoring survey progress while in field

Data processing // Transcript processing

  • Cleaning transcripts
  • Managing audio files from IDIs or FGs
  • Coding open-ended responses from surveys


  • Proofreading before goes to the client
  • Entering data using PowerPoint & Excel
  • Templating using PowerPoint


Qualified candidates should possess the following attributes:

  • Must have completed coursework in Market Research or a field relevant to Market Research
  • Must have previous work experience
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • A desire to learn and a thirst for knowledge
  • A fun and outgoing personality
  • Previous work experience in an office or professional work environment is a plus
  • Previous experience supporting quantitative or qualitative market research projects is a BIG plus
